how to connect two laptops using lan cable

 

A laptop is just a computer, right? Well, yes and no. Yes it's usually just a computer that you carry around with you, but if you wanted to connect two laptops with it would mean plugging in each laptop through the laptop's LAN port.

The problem with this otherwise simple task is that while one side of your LAN cable will have "eth" (ethernet) on it, the other side will have "wlan" (wireless network) and not enough time in the day to coder for MacOS 10.4 or earlier systems. Also, your laptops have to have the same lan cable.

All you need to do is get a cheap LAN cable and the two 

laptops, and you are ready to go! You'll have your own private LAN (Local Area Network).

You'll be able to share files and folders, print documents over LAN and connect to the internet easily. This will give you plenty of options for connecting your laptop with other laptops, or persuading your friends to play games on LAN with you.

Step 1: Gather up all the things you need in this step.

a. Laptops

b. LAN cable (one that will fit both laptops)

c. Document camera with its cords and software program or a webcam with its cords and software program (optional, but needed if you want to connect the two laptops to the internet)

d. Electrical outlet source (don't know how else to put it…)

e. Internet connection source…(internet connection is used in optional document camera or webcam setup) If you are using a document camera or webcam,

then you will also need these things:f. Ethernet cableg. Internet connection hiderouter/modem/cable modem/DSL modem/other internet connection devicei.

Optional: one or two computers (don't know why you would want two, but if you want to connect two laptops over lan cable, I guess it would help)j.

Step 2: Connect the first laptop to the port that uses "eth" on it and set it up.
